About Us
At Forest Park Presbyterian Church you'll find a welcoming community made up of people of all ages. Our worship is traditional in style and liturgy. We sing hymns from our Presbyterian hymnal, while other music is provided by our fabulous musician, Gwendolyn Gannon, other soloists, the adult choir, the handbell choir, a children’s chime choir, and a variety of instrumentalists in solos and ensembles.
We emphasize the hearing of the Word through scripture, the sermon, music and other liturgy. We use video screens in the service to assist all in participating fully. We also livestream our worship on YouTube.
Frequently Asked Questions
What do I Wear?
Our church family varies greatly in what they wear to church. There is not an expectation of a certain style of dress. You will see some wearing ties or dresses and others in much more casual clothing. Our main desire is that you be comfortable in whatever you choose to wear.
What about Communion?
Communion is served on the second Sunday of each month plus some additional special worship services. All who want to deepen their relationship with Jesus are welcome to participate. We most often serve communion to worshippers in their seats. We serve bread, including a gluten free option, and grape juice. Children are welcome to partake as their parents see fit.
What do I do with my Kids?
We at Forest Park Presbyterian Church believe that worship is best when all of God’s children
(young and old) are together to praise God.
At the front of our sanctuary is a Prayground table for children to sit at with age appropriate materials to help them to engage in worship. Pastor Kim invites the children to come sit there and leads them in a conversation just for them. Then other adults come from the congregation to aid the children in their projects while remaining in the sanctuary.
Once a month we have “Brunch with the Bible,” an intergenerational event that involves food (of course!) and a focus on learning more about what we believe. Sometimes we also have a mission project as a part of the event.
What Else is there to do at FPPC?
We have two Bible study groups, one on Tuesday evenings via Zoom, and one on Thursday afternoons in person. Topics vary for this group. We also have a Women’s group which gathers once a month for a study by the Presbyterian Women. We gather with other area Presbyterian congregations several times a year for special worship services.
Mission opportunities include Gathering for a Cause, our big spring fundraiser for local missions, providing backpacks and Christmas gifts through the Angel Tree program and the West Allis West Milwaukee school system. We have a group of volunteers who go to a local elementary school to read with children, and we go to Pres House at UW Madison and to Carroll University to serve meals and worship with college students. Every year we put together over 500 Hygiene kits to send to the Presbyterian Disaster Assistance Program to aid in their efforts. We support Loved Ministries, a program for teens in foster care group homes through providing space in our building and participate in a variety of ways in supporting their efforts.
We also like to have fun together, which includes a regular Lunch Bunch outing to local restaurants, potluck dinners and game nights. We have a yoga class taught by one of our members.
